STEP IT UP!!! in CUMMINGTON
April 14, 2007

Area residents gathered in front of the Community House for a Local Step It Up event to ask Congress to Step Up action against global warming. Step it Up was a coordinated group of events in which every assembled group posed for a photo at 1:00. The photos are being sent to Congress to show the faces of those concerned about the environment. The one day event spanned the nation with over 1400 towns and cities in all 50 states participating.

Other events all over the area were paired up with the Step It Up photo event. In Cummington, it was paired up with the Reusable Bag Sewing Circle, which hit a record for 46 bags in one day.

Independently of eachother, two participants brought in bird seed bags, which proved to be a wonderful bag-making material. Onion bags also made wonderful netted bags. If you have any fabric, lumber wrap, bird seed bags or the like, please bring them by the next bag sew.

And guys, remember, sewing isn't just women's work. We'd love to see you at a Sewing Circle!

The bags were immediately put to use at the Creamery. If you've taken some bags home, good for you! Just don't forget to bring them back.
